Cordova 4H Music Camp

Dates and times: July 15-19 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., plus evening activities.

Location: Cordova

Description: Hawaiian Camp for 6 to 8 year olds features ukulele, hula, Hawaiian language, culture, arts and crafts taught by Hawaiian musicians. At Bluegrass Camp for 9 to 18 year olds, campers take three classes and are in a band ranging from bluegrass to island, folk, rock n'roll, and jazz. Guest artists are Nashville Fiddlers plus Jazz Greats. Salmon Jam and adult classes, too!

Fairbanks Bluegrass Camp for Kids (17th Annual)

Sponsoring Organization: Fairbanks Folk Fest.

Ages: 7-18

Dates and times: June 24-28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Location: Unitarian Fellowship, 4448 Pike's Landing Road

Description: Americana music (bluegrass, old time, folk) for kids of all levels of experience. Expert instruction and inspiration from great musicians in fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bass, banjo, songwriting, vocals, and vocal harmonies. Summer Dance Camp

Sponsoring Organization: Mo Holland Dance Studio

Ages: 7 to 14

Dates and times: June 10 to 28

Location: 914 College Road

Description: Three days a week for three weeks in June. Campers will learn tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop and contemporary styles of dance as well asyoga, musical theater and zumba. They'll enjoy outside activites (weather permitting). There will be a performance for family and friends on June 28.

Youth Summer Fiberarts Program

Sponsoring Organization: Fairbanks Weavers & Spinners Guild

Ages: 6 to 15

Dates and times: Morning session 9 a.m. to noon; afternoon session 1 to 4 p.m. for May 20-24; May 28-31 (four days only); June 3-7; June 10-14; June 17-21; June 24 28; August 6-10; August 13-17

Location: Room 219, Lathrop Building, 516 Second Ave.

Description : Weekly three-hour classes in the morning and afternoon sessions that explore art-related projects that stimulate creative ideas, develop skills and techniques in basketry, beading, cartoons, drawing, fantasy costumes, machine sewing I, II, III, paper engineering, paper making, puppets, sculpture, quilting, watercolor, weaving and the science and art of rocks.

Cost: Cost: $90/week per session, 2 sessions per day. The cost covers either all morning classes or all afternoon sessions ($80, for the 4-day week, May 29 to June 1) Students may enroll in both morning and afternoon classes for the week, for $180 plus $10 for the week if student stays during the lunch hour.
