After a literal up-and-down start to the season, the UAF Nanooks seem to have found just the right kind of consistency they were hoping for.

The Nanooks played their final two games of their home tournament on Saturday and came out with two huge wins. The two wins gave UAF three consecutive victories and a final mark of 3-1 in the Nanook Classic this weekend. UAF is now 7-5 on the season.

UAF had been in the pattern of winning one and following that up with a loss as they entered the tournament at 4-4 and went to 4-5 after dropping game one on Thursday to Cal State LA, though the ‘Nooks put up a solid fight.

After holding off Drury on Friday night, the Nanooks looked like they were in complete control on Saturday.

The first game of the day came against Ursuline and the ‘Nooks won that one 3-1 by a score of 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17. Sophie Schilling and AveRee Reynolds led the way with 12 kills each, Lahra Weber added 11 kills, and Cate Whiting posted a game-high 43 assists on 96 total attempts with 11 digs and five kills.

Game two was just as easy for UAF. They took on CSU-Pueblo and came away with the sweep 3-0 by a score of 25-22, 25-16, 25-12. Schilling was fantastic again with three aces and six blocks while Whiting put up 35 assists and 11 digs. Karli Nielsen put up 12 kills while Reynolds added 10.

The Nanooks will be back in action Thursday night at Western Oregon while their next home game will be Sept. 23.
