The tennis season rolled on Thursday as Lathrop took on Hutchison and Monroe took on West Valley at DRCTC.

First up was the Malemutes and the Hawks. Cooper Irinaga of Hutchison battled Noah Stahl of Lathrop in the first boys singles match. Irinaga took that match in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Becket Eames represented Lathrop in the second boys singles while Sedgiku Werdin-Kenicott represented the Hawks. Eames cruised to victory by a score of 6-2, 6-0.

In the boys doubles, Bradley Birkholz and Cael Platt of the Malemutes took on Irinaga and Werdin-Kenicott. The Hutch duo got the better end of the match with victories of 6-1, 6-3.

There was just one girls match as Maya Scanlon of the Malemutes took on Anya McGee of the Hawks. Scanlon took victory 6-2, 6-1.

The final battle of the contest was the mixed doubles. Elodie Dahle and Darshan Nautiyal paired up for Lathrop while McGee and Joseph Sword paired up for Hutch. Lathrop was victorious 6-1, 6-0.

Then came the duel between the Rams and Wolfpack. Cole Neal of West Valley and Oliver Pender Monroe Catholic dueled in the first boys singles with Neal winning 6-2, 6-0. Monroe’s Tyler Hansen battled Malachi Matheson in the second boys singles with Hansen winning 7-3, 6-3.

Hansen paired with Theodore Kenna for the boys doubles while West Valley was represented by Alex Wuttig and Jorge Lai. After Hansen and Kenna won the first set 6-2, Wuttig and Lai won set two 6-2. West Valley won the tie breaker 10-6.

In the first girls singles match, Erin Hendricks of the Rams took on Morgan Ely of the Wolfpack. Hendricks won the match 6-1, 6-1. The final match was the second girls singles with Monroe’s Grace White taking on Zoe Schneider. White was the victory 6-4, 6-2.
