In the interest of time and many other factors, I’m gonna make this intro really quick.

Y’all know who Britney Spears is. You’re probably aware of her smash hit song “Oops, I Did It Again.” Well, long story short, that’s this week’s Hart of the Matter: I Oopsed again.

This column always comes out on Monday. This week, it’s coming out on Tuesday. It’s a long story as to why, but all that matters is the Britney is finally free so don’t worry about it.

Anyway, let’s get to the schedule.

First up, it’s the last week of the regular season for prep football. The schedule has changed every week, but for now Monroe will play Valdez, North Pole will host Eielson, and Lathrop will host West Valley in the Dog Bowl on Saturday. North Pole and Eielson will play at noon, the Dog Bowl is set for 5 p.m. and the Monroe game is TBA.

It’s a full dose of volleyball this week as Lathrop hosts Eielson on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before Thursday gives us the full slate. Monroe will host North Pole, Hutchison will host Eielson, and Lathrop will host West Valley all at 6 p.m. Delta will host Valdez on Friday (6 p.m.) and Saturday (11 a.m.) while Hutch hosts North Pole at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

It’s the second to last week of the flag football season and there’s three games to check out. On Wednesday, Hutchison will host Lathrop and West Valley visit North Pole at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.

The second rifle meet of the season will take place as West Valley and Lathrop compete at TVSA on Saturday at 8 a.m. The Bartlett Invite for swimming will take place on Saturday as well.

It’s not just prep athletics this week. UAF has a full slate of fun this week beginning Thursday as the Nanooks visit Simon Fraser for volleyball at 6 p.m. The men’s hockey team will play their first game in a year and a half on Saturday as they travel to the University of Minnesota for a 11:30 a.m. game and the volleyball team plays Western Washington on the road at 6 p.m.

Finally, there’s the Ice Dogs. The Dogs make their home debut on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Big Dipper Ice Arena against the Kenai River Brown Bears. The two squads will play again on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. as well.
