Letter to the Editor

Stand up to Trump

To the editor: The Ukraine plot shows clear evidence of corruption and abuse of power by President Donald Trump. In the documents that he has released, and in his own statements, Trump has asked both Ukraine and China to dig up dirt on political rival Joe Biden and his son. Trump has leveraged Ukraine’s desperately needed military aid, which Congress had approved, to demand political dirt.

Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan and Rep. Don Young can clearly see that Trump’s conduct is dangerous, wrong and impeachable. They have had days to compose statements that clearly state their disapproval of Trump’s despicable behavior. Yet they have done nothing. Their silence is deafening.

All three are terrified of Trump. They cower at the idea of the tweeter-in-chief directing a derogatory statement their way. Their relationship with the president is more important than our national security, more important than our moral values, more important than our Constitution.

Sad.

Our members of Congress need to speak out. Stand up for our Constitution. Show true leadership. Act now to protect their constituents from further corruption. By timidly remaining silent, they themselves become part of the corruption.

Unforgivable.
