Nadine’s wealth of experience

  • Comments

Sept. 23

To the editor: Nadine Winters has served our community well at high levels in the administrations of two governors, three mayors and for six years on the Borough Assembly. In addition, she has maintained a successful private business assisting village, municipal and state agencies with vexing financial issues. She is now offering to bring that wealth of experience to serve us in the mayor’s office at a time when we most need a steady, seasoned hand at the helm.

When a significant part of our economy was threatened with the possible loss of our local military bases, Nadine rolled up her sleeves and worked hard for years on the Tiger Team that organized the successful local, state and federal response to this series of unfolding challenges. When the Interior community came together and said we need to create a local natural gas utility, Nadine worked with North Pole, Fairbanks and the borough to help coordinate this effort and wrote the ordinance forming the Interior Gas Utility to bring affordable natural gas to Interior residents.

When the residents of North Pole and the borough library commission identified the need to replace the old and inadequate North Pole Library, Nadine spearheaded the effort to put together the private and public dollars to build the beautiful new building there.

In recent years, Nadine has been working with a local housing nonprofit to modernize its bookkeeping system and to rebuild its business plan to bring a failing enterprise back to a successful and sustainable operation.  We need Nadine’s wealth of experience and can-do attitude. Vote for Nadine Winters for borough mayor.
