FAIRBANKS — Fairbanks police arrested an Anchorage woman on a prostitution charge after a sting operation Friday night.

Based on a posting on the Fairbanks Craigslist website, Fairbanks police set up a meeting between suspect Celestine Marie Theisen, 24, (screen name “no hassles”) and undercover officer Robert Johnson, who used the code name “James Court,” according to a criminal complaint filed Saturday.

Upon arriving at a Ranch Motel room indicated by Theisen, there was some discussion of the legality of the transaction, Johnson said.

Theisen, who answered the door in her underwear, told him that $180 bought him half an hour of her time, and that she could not guarantee sexual contact because that was illegal, Johnson said.

Johnson said he asked her to clarify what he was getting for $180 and she said he could touch her breasts and “whatever happens, happens,” she said. Theisen removed her bra and asked Johnson to take off his clothes, at which point other officers arrived to arrest her, according to the complaint.

Theisen was charged with promoting prostitution in the fourth-degree, a seldom-prosecuted misdemeanor that’s punishable at a similar level as a driving under the influence charge. She pleaded not guilty and was released Monday on $500 bail, according to online court records.
