KODIAK, Alaska - Royal Dutch Shell PLC is continuing to help deliver food to Kodiak's rural communities.
The food from the Kodiak Island Food Bank was delivered to Larsen Bay last week. The community received around 1,200 pounds of food from the food bank on Friday.
This is the second time Shell has helped deliver to one of Kodiak's villages. Food bank director Alex von Tsurikov asked Shell earlier this month to deliver food to Old Harbor. The request came because he knew Shell had been flying people back and forth from Kodiak to Old Harbor since the Kulluk drilling rig grounded.
Shell helped deliver 1,344 pounds of food, including hard-to-get fresh products like fruit, vegetables, eggs and milk.
