David Anthony Sherwood
January 1, 1957 — April 1, 2021
Dave, born in Mankato, Minnesota, on January 1, 1957, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on April 1, 2021.
He attended high school at Mankato West where he excelled at swimming and tennis.
He joined the Army, which took him to Hawaii. Upon completion of his service he stayed in Hawaii for many years. He traded the Hawaiian island for Kodiak Island, Alaska.
Dave’s life was bound to Alaska where he was a crab fisherman on the Bering Sea for many years. Our family was on the receiving end of many of his “catch” as he would send home huge boxes of the biggest and best seafood we had ever seen or eaten.
Humor is a common thread in our family that always brought us so much joy. Dave’s humor stands out among us all … He was a master storyteller complete with the facial expressions and voices that make a story great. Mostly, Dave just liked making people happy.
Dave was not a complicated person and never lost the childlike wonder and appreciation of the very simplest of things in life. He was a kind and gentle soul and found great comfort in his faith.
He is survived by his mother Jane Sherwood, East Glacier Park, Montana; brother Mike Sherwood, East Glacier Park, Montana; brother Greg Sherwood, Fridley, Minnesota; sister Jennie Sherwood, Tucson, Arizona; and sister Mollie Quatrato (Mike), Tucson, Arizona.
Losing Dave is so heartbreaking but we find comfort knowing he will be joining our beloved dad (Richard Sherwood) and sister (Christie Sherwood Spencer) for the big laughs up above.
