My Best Aurora Photo
- Compiled by Gary Black
Dazzling auroras are inspiration for Fairbanks photographers, both pro and casual, to get out in the dark of winter and capture the natural phenomenon. Here's some of the latest readers have sent in during the past couple of weeks.

My Best Aurora
(Above) Born and raised in Alaska, my husband and I have never seen the aurora dancing all over the sky as we did on Saturday night (Jan. 14, 2023). Vibrant and full of colors every which way we looked from our deck.

My Best Aurora
Anna Bryan, Fairbanks
4 a.m., parents are visiting from Minnesota, so I wake them up because I figure it was worth looking to see if the lights were out. They were, so I woke them up with a little resistance, and when I turned on the switch in the garage for the cars, the deck lights came on and the house lit up red from the railing lights. Pretty cool!
