Chris Thile

Chris Thile is performing this weekend at the Hering Auditorium.

The Fairbanks Concert Association (FCA) is presenting MacArthur Fellow and Grammy Award-winning mandolinist, singer, songwriter Chris Thile.

Thile, who NPR calls a “genre-defying musical genius,” is a founding member of the critically acclaimed bands Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek. For four years, Thile hosted public radio favorite Live from Here with Chris Thile (formerly known as A Prairie Home Companion).

Recently, Chris recorded “Laysongs.” The album is his first truly solo album: just Thile, his voice, and his mandolin.

FCA Executive Director Anne Biberman said, “This will be an opportunity to hear what an extraordinary artist does when he’s coming out of the most intense creative period of his life, when, all of a sudden, for the first time in a long time, he has a moment to think and dream a little.”

Chris Thile’s concert is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Hering Auditorium, Lathrop High School, 901 Airport Way, in Fairbanks.

The box office will open at 6:30 p.m. Bring proof of vaccine or negative test, and pick up or purchase your tickets.

Tickets start at $29 and can be purchased online at bit.ly/3n0HU2C, or by calling -907-474-8081. Season subscriptions for three or more events are also available for purchase.
