FAIRBANKS — HooDoo Brewing Co., 1951 Fox Ave., is celebrating its second birthday Friday with the release of a new seasonal ale.
Doors open at 3 p.m. for the birthday celebration with the release of HooDoo’s pumpkin ale set for 4 p.m. The evening also features drawings for prizes for guests wearing Halloween costumes, $1 floats made with HooDoo’s stout beer and Coldstone Creamery ice cream, cupcakes from A&K Cupcakes, and lots of candy. A limerick contest started on HooDoo’s Facebook page will take place at 7 p.m.
Tasting notes about the pumpkin ale call it “full-bodied, complex, spiced,” stating that it is brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, allspice and real pumpkin.
“The rich aromas from the pumpkin and light spice additions complement the rich malty base of this deep orange colored beer. Upon first sip, an up-front spice is immediately supported by a creamy, complex sweetness. The spices give way to rich maltiness before the beer finishes cleanly, but full-bodied,” according to HooDoo’s tasting notes.
