FAIRBANKS — Her restitution fully paid, a Fairbanks woman charged with going on a $7,000 shopping spree with a former coworker’s money will not have to serve any jail time if she does not break the law again, according to court records.
She will, however, have a felony on her record.
Under the terms of a plea agreement, Maylean Johnson, 26, pleaded guilty earlier this month to felony theft, forgery and fraudulent use of an access device. The access device was a Chase bank credit card. She is on probation for three years.
Johnson was charged last month after the victim, who now lives in Anchorage, reported her identity had been stolen. Police determined Johnson used the victim’s Social Security number and other personal information to obtain the credit card. She spent the money at stores that specialize in cosmetics, lingerie, high-end clothing and body building in November and December.
