The J.P. Jones Center is filling up

Published Tuesday, February 5, 2008

It's hard to get a head count here at the Democratic caucuses at the J.P. Jones Community Development Center because people are moving from room to room. A conservative guess is 400. The line to check people in winds the length of the building.

Someone just arrived carrying a dozen pizzas. You know those disposable trays for turkey-cooking on Thanksgiving? Four of those sit on a table filled with Twix bars, Snickers bars, Milky Ways and what have you.

Former Democratic Rep. John Davies is sitting nearby. He doesn't want to announce who he is supporting until after the caucuses, he said. Davies is helping organize the event.

MSNBC just called Delaware for Obama, announced Brian Rogers, also a former Democratic state representative.

People who are not in line are sitting in front of a television, waiting for the news to come on.
