SOLDOTNA, Alaska - An officer in the Soldotna Police Department is being investigated for possible professional misconduct.

The Peninsula Clarion says the officer has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. The newspaper is not identifying the officer because he has not been charged with a crime.

Chief John Lucking would not provide additional information about the allegations, but said the investigation could result in criminal charges.

I have to say that I look forward to reading Pearls comments. Usually they are more informative than what the rest of the blokes on here have to say. She doesn't throw out the nonsense, or slam anyone with her comments. She's very well spoken and sometimes humorous. We all have our points of view, Leave HER ALONE. Sheesh!

2 suggestions joes - learn to read and do so, before you post; and get a mirror and have a look at judgemental assumptions, while you're posting.

dukit22 - I am not putting forth assumptions in my previous post. I am asking why we, the public, have not been given the information [results of investigations] concerning the actions of our public servants. Knowledge IS the only secure/valid basis of public trust. Speculation is the result of information/knowledge being withheld or kept hidden.

And I am the exact opposite. I usually look at Pearl's comments as a voice of reason amongs a storm of insufferably rude comments.

Today, Pearl boarders on the rude herself.

You are making too many assumptions that border on slander.

Better to be quiet than to throw shadows where they do not belong.

Pearl- usually I think that you are off the tilt slightly in your views even though you appear pretty well informed, today I couldnt agree with your comments any more than I do. You wrote a longer comment than the entire article it was attached too, ha!

Seems like if there's enough grounds to conduct an investigation, there's reason to inform the public.

And speaking of investigations of LEO conduct, whatever happened with the investigation of the FPD shooting of the young man in the stolen vehicle?? Last thing I saw, the DNM said the results/conclusions would be out at the end of the week, and that was a month ago or more. And no more information has come out since then.

Or the Trooper shooting last fall/early winter. The one where there was so much confusion and changing stories about what the justification was [besides/in addition to: "if a trooper feels threatened for whatever reason, he can, and may, shoot"]. People were saying: "Wait until all the information is known". So where's the information? Can we assume that the State acknowledged what the Troopers don't want to: that the trooper was out of line, and settled out of court? Or should we consider that maybe the Troopers just threatened the young man with criminal charges, and since he didn't have the finances to file a complaint in court, he folded??

Hard to say, when LE doesn't think that the Public has a right to know what's going on with the empowered and armed force in our midst. Where's the public accountability that is the basis for public trust and support?

And what about the Gruenig murder and subsequent killing? Any news on an investigation of the murder of Ms Gruenig? Or is that considered mote, because the Troopers "had only the one [dead] suspect" *prior to investigation*, and the official public justification for the LEO shooting rests in part on the assumption that the son was the murderer?? [The shooting may have been justified in any case, but that's a separate issue from who committed the murder.]
