The power of big oil over our leaders has lead us blindly from opportunities that SHOULD have funded R&D on alteratives from the 70's to present. We are now funding countries that hate us. Would anyone willingly hand money to someone that can't stand them? It is what it is. We need to save our country's wealth. We should try to develope any renewable energy possible, but drilling is something that must be done while we wait.

Has anyone noticed all the Pharmacy sites on the web? To me,that's poses much more of a threat. There are hundreds based in Mexico, with no id check upon delivery. Which is worse; throwing up your gut or having your heart stop?

I'm from Maryland but worked in AK. half the year for the last 2. My parents are in their 80's, so I have to stay where I am for a while. Kudos to your hard work with the Miner. It keeps me informed about a state where I intend to retire. My local paper, although from a much larger town, doesn't even come close to the quality of your paper, not to mention the great comment section. I truely enjoy reading everyone's opinions. Please keep up the good work.

Does anyone know the weight of the tripod. It looks pretty heavy. I'm guessing 6 to 12 inches could be penetraded by it's weght.

It's a shame that back in the 70's we didn't learn a valuable lesson about what the middle east thought of us. Had we started putting money into alteratives during that crises instead of spending money to protect oil's flow, think of where we could be today.

Oh, how I'll miss the great country of Alaska this summer. Worked in Denali the last 2 years, but had to stay in Ocean City, Maryland this year. I'll miss arriving in March and leaving in Oct. The experience of 12 months in 7 months, long days, then Northern Lights, which are the most beautiful in the Fairbanks area will leave a void in my year. Maybe a fishing trip to Seward will help ease my longings.

So, I guess we'll continue to export our country's wealth to people that hate us. Would anyone really hand money to smeone they knew hated them? Though I detest the control oil companies have had on the world, we will need their products untill we develope renewables to ween ourselves away from them. I live on the Alantic and we are at a fast pace to develope Wind projects. I know, against my liking, that we will have to have off-shore drilling as well. It is what it is. By the way, I can't wait to move back to the 49th state. Greatest state in the union.
