I enjoy reading the crime reports. like many others I read to see if there is any one I know. And I appreciate when the NM reports follow ups to those crimes that they may believe to be worthy of thier time.
BUT I was very upset several years ago to see they had used a crime report for one of those 10 years ago , 20 years ago , 50 years ago things...
Unfortunately, my son as a teenager who had just turned 18 along with a 17 year old supposedly friend broke the law. My son learned his lesson and was never in trouble with the law after that. and guess what? 10 years later he is news again. He had become an adult having paid for his crime and had moved on to have a productive positive life. ( the other boy basically got off because he was a minor even tho he was the "leader")
But suddenly my son was "news " again.
not that he had paid for his crime, only that he had commited it.
the other boy also became a habitual criminal. but that is not reported.

They need to give the extra funding to make up for the loss of the grants. Support Energy grants, replace last years grants...just SOMETHING!!! To get what amounts to an $11 dollar increase for school funding on top of increasing energy costs that push budgets upwards of 12% is not even close to closing that gap. They could and should support Rep. Ladouxe's HB 386 that pays for a portion of energy costs for school districts.
Next year they need to bring back to the floor that education funding bill they were so proud of and make it right by putting in the $200 annual increase to the Student Base Allotment at the very LEAST!!!
Let me be very clear on that...it means that it should be the least amount discussed...not the maximum amount.
To hear we did not know what we were doing when school districts and superintendents around the state were down in Juneau telling them they needed the $200 increase is just baloney. Thank you to those who tried, although in vain, to make that correction on the floor.

I am very saddened by the turn of events here. Ms Merrel took a failing business, one that parents were NOT sending their children to and turn it in to the preschool/ daycare center it was years ago where children loved to attend and parents were please with their children's preschool education. Ms. Merrel Deserves kudos for that.
HOWEVER, to go from one day that you have an agreement then a mere 2 days later turn around and refuse concerns me greatly. Ms Merrel, the community put its trust in you when you signed that contract. I understand that situations change and there is a need for you to leave and move on. Give back the trust that was given you and do the right thing. Settle this, show the reciepts, show the contract, show every cent that you poured into this business. The Borough has acted in good faith that you wanted a settlement. The community -parents and children are waiting for you to keep your word.
This is about the children and the message it is sending.
this is about Trust.
This is about Honesty.
This is about the CHILDREN.

Many women, and men too, are in these type of relationships because they have low self esteem. They do not think any one else will love them. Low self esteem has nothing to do with being stupid Mr Kelly. However abuse is abuse no matter what the situation is. The law needs to protect the weak. no matter what. And Mr Kelly May I suggest that you spend some time visiting some women in shelters who are there because of domestic violence. I used to be one of those women and you better not call me stupid.
On Kelly apologizes for inflammatory remarks on domestic violence

IS it true that because don young is an encumbant he can raise money anywhere in the 50 states but if an Alaskan wants to run against him they can only raise money with the state?
i am planning om voting for Gabriella LeDouxe. She stepped up to the plate last year and stated her plans to run against don young.
