Regarding the new bridge. To my understanding it will be on the right hand side of the above image, slightly beyond the edge of the image. The approach will start just about the intersection on the left side of this view and run diagonally across the parking lot through the footprint of some of the buildings shown on the right. The bridge will exit into Barnette St on the far side of the Chena. HankB

Regarding the WTC....I could physically see the towers in smoke from a spot 20 miles to the east on Long Island. The view was directly in line with the street I was on.

Camster alert at 5:22PM! Wouldn't it be nice if the News-Miner provided a reviewing stand for Camsters?

FlaPalms.....Regarding your question on fall colors. In my meager one year (1964-65), the leaves changed predominantly beginning around Labor Day to a bit after mid-September. As for the freeze, it can happen in any month, but a hard freeze will set in about mid October through March.

Regarding construction before the ArcticCam. I have seen some of the plans (2006) which include the new bridge to Barnette. Additionally, there seems to be talk about another major upheaval affecting Cushman St, on the other side of the Chena. This proposes restoring Cushman to two-way traffic, which is contrary to the intent of building of the Barnette St bridge, which was to allow one-way traffic at the Cushman St bridge, relieving congestion. Go figger!

Drivingtoalaska...."Time delay" from Fairbanks...When I visited in 2002, I had left a note with my friends on the east coast that I would be in front of the News-Miner at 12noon Eastern time. That meant that I would be standing by the ArcticCam at 8AM Fairbanks time. For you, 12 Noon (Central time) in Texas would equal 9AM Fairbanks time. We had viewers capture the image in 5 states, including a few IBM offices.

Yeay!!! The ArcticCam is restored.
Zumme...Sorry...I do not know about posting pictures. I suspect that the News-Miner may not allow it. I am a member of FairbanksFriends, an unaffiliated forum which is a group of Fairbanks wannabe's. There, members are allotted some space for posting photos. Their web address is:

Ernie....Good to hear from you again. I don't have a clue regarding Windows Live ID, but if you Google "Windows Live ID" (in quotes) you get a huge number of links, including "support". And, NellyBelle was my father's nickname for his first car, a 1956 Plymouth. A suggestion regarding FF, is creating a new Login ID an option? HankB
