Livestock and other kept domestic animals can and do escape from time to time. To my knowledge, most Livestock ( cows, sheep an Horses) are not Prey Driven animals. Since when have horses been found to engage in predation?

Many other methods of driving off horses, cows and sheep work VS shooting at them. What if the owner of the accused "killer horses" and her famiy had been in pursiut? This could have had a very differnt outcome. It is tragic enough that ANY LOSS of life occured.

We do have the right to protect our property, but according to what has been in print thus far..This was a bit of extreme action. Many facts are unknown to us, the readers. What is known, is a firearm was discharged in a reckless manner according to the DNM sources resulting in damage to anothers property and loss of life(albeit a horse's and not a human's). We can throw in "What If's" and "Could Of happened" all day long.

Owning Animals and/or Firearms both require attention to detail, respect, and responsibilty for our actions.

By All means...Spend your hard earned money anyway you desire. That wasn't my point. Cute names for mutts billed as a BREED of dog was what I was hoping to address. I have paid good money for a Pure Bred myself, imported German Shepherds and Malinois many years ago.

Who burns me raw are the folks that breed Designer Mutts or as mentiond let a dog run loose, get a litter of mutts, then Bill them as something special and GET PAID FOR BEING IRRESPONSIBLE.

Why is it such an issue for some people to pay 1200 bucks for a Designer Mutt, but complain that it can cost 200 - 300 dollars to adopt from shelters and/or Rescue Organizations. At least from the shelters/rescues, you get more bang for the buck. The Animal is spayed/neutered and Vaccinated and Microchipped.

Maybe the Animal Shelter should start advertising the animals brought into the shelter here as a certain designer mutt. I know I have seen every thinkable combination come through the doors. How much would a would-be adopter pay out to the Shelter for a BULL Mastiff/SHEET zu. ...Slap a cute name on that and wait to see who shows up to adopt it. ** Note ** DNM won't allow the proper spelling of one of the breeds I have chosen to post about.**

Isn't it hard enough that we lost any Soldiers at all? Do you think it matters if the second soldier died at the site of the attack or died later from the injuries he sustained? Does the manner and place make his sacrifice any less, or ease the burden of loss for his family?

Most of us read each article on how our guys are doing. Most of us understood what the DNM had printed. It saddens me that some feel a distinction must be made over the location of this Soldier's sacrifice and his Family's loss.

Well Done akarmystrykerwife.

I am sure I am going to get blasted for this, but I am compelled to chime in.

I don't want to point fingers at any one group or reason..the reasons are plentiful and plenty of BLAME to go around for sure.

As far as Military Personnel Involvement, I do not doubt it for one minute. I have to throw in the Faith Card at some point along with a DEMAND for action taken on FTW for any involvement. The idea of Soldier's being in GANGS disgusts me...Isn't the army a good enough gang to belong to?

Youth Involvement?....What do the masses consider a Youth these days? Sorry, you point a gun in my or my family's direction while in the throws of a turf war and you are SCUM.....young or middle aged.

What would it take and how much would it benefit to open Youth Activity Centers in two separate parts of town? Or would that only open up more opportunity for these Gang Members to recruit? I really have no idea how gangs work. All one ever sees are the after action reports that leave a person feeling threatened and scared to take the kids for Ice Cream cones in town.

Is one reason for gang involvement truthfully Not having anything better to do? The Military folks I know are busy training in and out of the state getting ready to deploy.. Are the majority/minority of Soldiers that bored?

Where do the teenagers hang out and shoot the bull here in Fairbanks? School is about to start...are they really that bored?

I get so involved in my own family's events and life lessons that before I know it, I am left hanging in the breeze trying to catch up on Current Events/trends...Until I see an article with responses such as these.

Speaking for myself only...this was one of those Wake Up Calls.

You Have My Attention.....What are some Solutions?

No matter what you hear/read, think you heard/read, or are told...They are really home when you see them with your own eyes.

What does it take to figure that out?

Time tables change, extensions happen, an aircraft can break down, soldiers loose/misplace sensitive items. In short, crapola happens.

We adjust and accept these happenings and cope.....Or we get our hopes up only to have them stripped away, get cranky and point fingers and play the Blame Game.

I notice that one of the questions asked by akgold to dirk was....How did they come to the conclusion Zorro was an unreliable breeder, had no response.

The lack of a response says a lot.

Best Wishes during recovery to Zorro!

At this point in time blame can wait to be thrown around. ( and it will be, I am sure).

For now, our family is sending all the prayers it can to Zorro and the Mackey family.
