3 years completely off grid here. Solar panels and wind generators. Used only $30 worth of fuel for a generator to charge my batteries last winter. My friends still call me to ask if my power is out also when GVEA goes down. No more power outages for me or a $250 per month electric bill. Even with the snow coming down right now my solar panels are putting out 1/4 of their rated output which is enough to top my batteries off from last night. Writing this on my solar powered lap top with a wireless connection to a cell tower.

Villageboy you covered it very well. Most of these little whiners give me a good laugh when I read their uninformed and ignorant rants. If any of them really cared about what is going on with our state they would be pushing for a review of Wootens investigation and trying to hang everyone that was involved in that farce.

Is this the same Dave Lacey who ran a dozer through all the test areas of trees just so he could put in a road to some property. If so he is maybe not the right person to be running this operation. The DNM should look into this and let us know what ever happenned to the person responsible for all the destruction.

I thinks its Gov. Palins fault. O.K. I really don't but this is the only column I have read in weeks where someone is not blaming her for all the bad things in Alaska.

Let them take the bus into the park. We can probably get Whitaker to have us Borough tax payers pay for it.

Scotty,
I am happy you put your real name on this as that way every one will know what a little cry baby you are. it makes me happy to know how unhappy you are. Complain some more as we all could use a good laugh.

It seems to me that maybe the city employees other than police and some of the emergency workers should drive their own vehicles back and forth to their place of work. It is these little under the table type benifits that make those of us that work in the private sector and pay taxes just a little angry and want to cut more positions and the budget. That includes the Mayor if she is taking a city car home every day. I would rather see the dump and trash truck drivers able to stop at the nearest place to grab lunch in a city vehicle than drive them all the way back to the city yard and then back into the field after lunch. I am sure the Mayor is getting paid enough to drive her own vehicle to work and is not needed in an emergency anyway.

My dad is a retired state trooper from the seventies. He retired because they were getting to corrupt and he no longer wanted to be part of it. Even in the old days they covered for each other but it was not political like it is now. The union will fight for their guy even if he is in the wrong and the state usually settles.

Palin did not fire Monegan he quit. She offered to transfer him to another department and he declined and quit. Monegan was a union man and protected his cops first and the state second. I am sure that she was unhappy about how the troopers handled the investigation into wooten as would anyone.

Not calling the cops on your sisters husband is how most people would handle it as you keep hoping it will work out and you do not want everyone mad at you. The real crime here is that Wooten never got what he deserved. Fired and charged with what ever laws he did break.
