The concession stand is not run by the airport but by a private party. I suggest you call them with your suggestions/concerns. I think it is listed in the phone book under the Bush Pilot Restaraunt, their parent company is Nana Management (they operate the university's catering and manage hotels throughout Alaska, Springhill Suites, etc.)
When I inquired about a coffee stand in prescreening I was told there is supposed to be one in the new terminal, same group is supposed to get it up and running.

Thanks Corinne! I appreciate the offer although I doubt it will motivate him to pay but I am all for trying.
My exes favorite past time is to try to seek full custody because his family subsidizes the effort and I have to pay. He knows it won't happen and his cases are weak at best but that doesn't stop him. I guess you cannot put a value on your childrens' best interest but the legal fees have been HUGE.

Putting screws to someone goes both ways. My ex is supposed to pay 1/2 of the travel costs (or one plane ticket) when the kids visit him per the court order I pay upfront for the entire trip and he is supposed to reimburse me within 30 days. If I get the money in 60 days I am doing good. He knows that it is cost prohibitive to take him back to court, 500-1000 in lawyer fees for a 680.00 ticket. I assume it makes him feel good when he gets in these cheap shots. Personally I think it is his petty jealousy because I didn't fall apart and end up on welfare after he left and I am doing better than I ever was married to him. He used to make twice what I made and now I make more than him. Karma???
Male/Female, custodial/non-custodial there are bad examples in both catagories and genders.
My ex works both over and under the table, I have given up on that one after watching my own mother raise my two brothers and her ex not contribute by living off his mother and working under the table. While he was in jail for sexually assaulting a child he was fighting my mother for visitation and custody with an attorney paid for by his mother but yet he couldn't send any support. So mom was working two jobs and then having to pay legal fees. It would be laughable if it wasn't true :(

One snowmachine and my son's brand new bike ( less then a month after he got it for his 10th b-day) from our front yard last year (we use chains and locks and neither were visible from the road) but not nearly as bad as my neighbors who had someone pull up and take their trailer and snowmachines. Really sad. We are diligent and have neighborhood watch where we live, even live next door to a police officer. Truth is the thieves are operating during the day when all of us contributing members of society are at work :(
Even better had my SUV stolen out of my driveway when I lived in town in 2004 the morning after Christmas. I went out started it (no autostart as I had jsut purchased it) and walked back in to get my little one in a car seat, it was gone in a matter of 2 minutes. Thankfully the trees caught it as the thieves tried to put it in the slough, only 6K in damages.. LOL..
I have experienced more theft in Fairbanks in the 7 years I have lived here than my entire life growing up in SE Alaska. Not sure why?
Yes, I reported it all to the troopers who politely took down my report.

Just bought a wood boiler (gasification type) from AK Battery. It is a Tarm and I am planning on using wood all winter as I see no end in sight to the rising costs of heating fuel. These boilers are enviromentally friendly as well. I encourage all of you to check them out! Although I wish I was spending money on something other than a new boiler :(

In a perfect world two people or parent would be able to raise a child 50/50, equally sharing responsibilities, both financial and caregiving but the reality is most people that are not together raising a child are not together for a reason. If it were left up to my ex to determine what he saw fit to "provide" for his children I would probably not get a dime most months. It would create a much more negative enviroment if we were constantly having to discuss money. CSED (although admittedly flawed in many ways) was designed to create equity based on a person's income not what the other parent thinks they need/deserve. This why some people pay a token monthly amount and others pay much more. I tried the paying me directly route for the first 2 years after I got divorced and found that my payments were frequently late or "forgotten" altogether. That has not been an issue since CSED was involved. It also protects him as he has documented proof of the support he is paying.
For those the have experienced a "raw deal" with CSED I feel for you as with any other govermental agency (IRS anyone) I can empathize with the ordeal of having them correct an error, etc. As for those that have gone into arrears because they chosen not pay I have no empathy for you. Male or female, own up to your responsibility and take care of your children, be a part of their lives in more than just a monetary way.
As a foster parent here in town I see far too many non-contributing deadbeat parents in general. It's no wonder there are no many "lost" children :(

AK Mommie I agree with you 100%. I have 2 kids from previous marriage and have been remarried for several years with one whild together. I get child support and I swear if I didn't know better I would think Reader1 is my ex-husband. That is his belief that he somehow subsidizes my life with his 798.00 per month (to pay this much he makes 50,000 per year). Yes, I have a better job than he does and so does my husband. Yes, we earn more but does that make him any less responsible for his children? I can tell you when they were younger it cost me 1200 per month just for childcare alone and I have NEVER taken a dime of welfare nor childcare assistance and I am not from a rich family nor did I marry into money, we just work hard. I have done it all on my own, working two jobs if necessary. The kids are older now and while there isn't daycare anymore those expenses been replaced my sports, more costly clothing and a variety of other things. Not to mention my child support has stayed the same for many years while the cost of living as well as my exes income has steadily increased. I do not bother him with recalculation and additional support although I could, what I get seems fair and like I said I am not hurting financially either.
I will also say it cuts both ways. My mom never got child support from either of her ex husbands, they both owe in arrears and one of my brothers is 19 and the other is 27. Both of them work and one even has a trust fund. So, while some of you get caught and have to pay up (in Oregon the can take up to 50% of net income if you are in arrears, varies state to state) others have the obligation on the books but have become quite talented at finding ways to never pay a dime. My stepfather told my mother when they divorced that she would NEVER get a dime from him for support as he knew all the tricks to avoid the garnishment (there are actually organizations out there of men that share tips on how to avoid paying child support), if she wanted his money she would have to stay married to his crazed-abusive self. To this date he has been a man of his word, not paying a dime. Sad because the only one he really hurt was his own child.
I will say that if a mother is spending her child support, welfare or anything else ONLY on herself and her children are without then she isn't much of a mother and should be turned into OCS for neglect.

I love Fairbanks because of all the amazing people that make this town such a special place to live, work and raise my children. Winters may be harsh but what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger and Fairbanks is full of STRONG, caring and civic minded people. From the cold, crisp aurora filled nights to the endless sun of the summer there is no better place in the world :)

Good luck getting the city's building department to sign off on anything in a reasonable amount of time.
