I personally dont believe for one second that we are even in a supply and demand crisis, I think its a BS crisis started by folks aiming to get rich. If we had a true crisis like the picture folks keep trying to draw or like we had in the late 70's we'd see an interruption of some sort nationwide. Last time I checked the stations have gas, the reserves have oil, the only thing that has changed in the last 6 months is the price and the strength of the world market! With that said I do believe we need to pull our heads out of our arses and start drilling and building for energy supplies for the future because we arent even remotely independent when it comes to energy and that needs to change. The bla bla bla about the environment might finally get ignored now that the nation is hurting!

"How is it that folks are getting the PFD without living in AK?"
Thats another whole debate of confusing grey area facts and explanations of laws. But it all boils down to folks who no longer live here but use the loop holes in the system to still claim they live here or are residents of Alaska.

We dont see much violent crime here in the FNSB other than the regular Domestic violence but as far as theft goes, its become socially acceptable and allowable by the lack of seriousness its viewed by. Thank the lord for our gun laws I say, and its probably the reason for the lack of violent crimes we see locally. I know I cant imagine many folks I know allowing a violent crime to take place and not acting, and 1 in 3 vehicles in Fairbanks has at least one gun in it so its something to ponder!

Like I have said before this rebate is really not going to be viewed as fair since hundreds of thousands of Anchorage residents are feeling no pain in energy bills and the colder parts of the state are really feeling the crunch. A family of 3 in Fairbanks is gonna get some much needed help on heating oil prices (and its help but its not gonna pay the bills solely)....that they will be taxed on come tax season. A family of 3 in Anchorage is gonna get enough cash to take their family to Hawaii on vacation mid winter. And the folks in the bush are still gonna need even more help to get by. So really the $1200 though it will help some, the majority of the $ will be wasted. Lets not forget the 50,000 or so people that are unjustly receiving PFD's and living in the lower 48 are gonna get an extra $1200 a piece too. But I guess the sad part is that at least some folks who really need the help will get it. I still beleive that the only appropriate way to use the money is direct discounts (subsidies) to electricity, heating oil, propane and natural gas in the places that it has risen in cost soo much. Then the folks wont be taxed on it, and only those who are really in need will get it. Plus the 50,000 or so unjust PFD recipients wont be milking the cow too.

"You're all such wonderful dullards. This government subsidy of fuel is exactly what's going on in China and Venezuela. It's a feature of communism. It's also acting to keep fuel prices high. The logic is simple. If the government helps cover your energy costs, you don't act to conserve"
These statements were obviously made by someone who doesn't heat their house with $4.50 + a gallon heating oil..! I think the biggest dilemna in understanding whats going on is that not all of Alaska is feeling the panic that the interior and villages is. The biggest city, Anchorage, doesn't even understand the panic that interior folks are feeling. Must be nice to have just over $1 lb natural gas, pretty sure the 75,000+ interior residents wouldn't be stressing the onset of winter in 100 days if that were the case. Sure would like to hear how you'd like folks to conserve though, thats a little easier said than done.

Theres not a place in the lower 48 that would make a equal comparison to our situation! Beyond Extreme Cold.....Oil flowing through our backyards.... multiple refineries......a fairly small population.....and a state that has sooo much money it doesn't know what to do with it!

Thats why I think this idea is the best, simply because not everyone in this state is even feeling the burden of oil/fuel prices and it sure isn't even close to equal. Some are only complaining about fuel prices at the pump! This idea would help everyone from SE Alaska to the Bush with the real pain they are feeling!

Heres another thought, using a family of 3 as an example. A family of 3 would receive $3600, if you live in Anchorage that would provide an Anchorage family with more than enough money to pay their electric bill and all their heating cost with a surplus of extra spending money to do with whatever they like. That same $3600 will not pay half of the heating costs for most interior residents. Just a thought!!!!

Anyone who thinks that an introduction of 500,000-700,000 barrles of oil day to the world oil market isn't gonna change the price of oil isn't very keen on how the market works. Using small figure like 1% is just the intimitadtion the nay sayers uses to convince folks not to open it. C'mon folks, you think that we (the U.S) start drilling oil in several places around our nation and introducing a million plus barrels of oil a day into the market isn't bring the price of oil down???? For gods sake all China did was add 12% more of the cost of oil on its people and oil dropped $4 in one day. The whole cost for oil prices is not anything real....its all speculations injected by investors. Drill ..I say, it sabout time we pull our heads out of our A$#es!
