UAF  has not eliminated the Office of Multicultural Affairs & Diversity and the Women's Center, though the offices are part of a move and a restructuring, UAF says.

Mae Marsh, director of the office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity, says the multicultural office and the women's center are moving to the Nordic House.

"There are two major changes that are occurring – a restructure and a relocation. The restructure of Equal Opportunity has been on-going for some time and is still open to community comment and input.  When the previous director retired, the element of diversity was added to the office functions – hence the change of name to Diversity and Equal Opportunity in the fall of 2011.  I remain open to ideas on how to best institutionalize diversity and create a welcoming environment," she said in a posting on the UAF Grapevine site.

"The office currently occupied by the Women’s Center will remain with ODEO and will continue to provide resources, outreach services and a meeting space for students and employees.  The managers of OMAD and the Women’s Center will continue with their work and their offices will be located at the Nordic House."
