FAIRBANKS - The University of Alaska Fairbanks is hosting a fundraiser on Wednesday to boost East Coast relief efforts following Hurricane Sandy and to boost the Alternative Spring Break program.

A taco dinner, from 5-7 p.m. at the UAF Wood Center, will be accompanied by a silent auction and bake sale. The events are open to the public.

Alternative Spring Break will take 13 UAF students to Ague Prieta, Mexico, this year to work with the charitable organization Rancho Feliz. Volunteers will work in local schools, help build homes and talk to community members to better understand life on the U.S.-Mexico border. Previous ASB trips have included volunteer work in Washington D.C., Utah, Florida and El Salvador.

Donations are being sought for auction items. To offer an item for the event, contact Heidi Shepard at 474-1170 or email to leadership@uaf.edu.
