FAIRBANKS — Saturday morning was good for a little torture.
Sixty-three runners turned out to compete in the Two-Way Torture, which features teams of two runners touring Chena Ridge (13.1 miles) in the opposite direction from The Pump House Restaurant.
The team 1 + 1 = Two-rific!, Ailda Van Almelo and Chris Eversman, completed the grueling run in 2 hours, 51 minutes, 58 seconds to claim the top prize, finishing more than seven minutes ahead of the runner-up team.
Eversman completed the course in a blistering 1:15:36, easily the fastest time of any of the male runners, while Van Almelo finished in 1:36:22, the second fastest women’s time of the day.
Eversman posted the fastest time since 2005, but results before 2005 were not available Saturday evening.
Second place went to The Unknowns, Melissa Lewis and Josh Richardson, in 2:59:33. Lewis posted the fastest women’s time of the day in 1:35:48. Richardson was No. 2 among the men in 1:23:45.
Meet you at the finish, Paul Wayfield and Wendi Graham was third overall in 3:11:42. Wayfield crossed the finish line in 1:31:24 and Graham posted a 1:40:18.
The top three teams all were in the Mixed Division.
Ed ‘n’ Dave, Ed Debevec and Dave Leonard, took the Men’s Division crown in 3:15:35, beating AB/DB, Dan Bishop and Andrew Bishop, by a little more than three minutes.
Debevec completed his loop around Chena Ridge in 1:37:17 and Leonard crossed in 1:38:18.
Andrew was the fastest Bishop in 1:30:11, while Dan finished in 1:48:49.
See you up top, the mother-daughter team of Sharon Baker and Davya Flaharty, were the women’s champions in 3:36:47, almost 11 minutes ahead of the runner-up team. Baker finished in 1:57:43 and Flaharty notched a 1:39:14.
Stranger Danger, Anna Worden and Cristi Flynn, took second place in 3:47:52. Worden had the third-fastest women’s time of the day in 1:36:44 and Flynn posted a 2:11:18.
Division winners received gift certificates from The Pump House Restaurant. Other prizes were awarded in a random draw.

The running calendar is chock full of events this week.
Tuesday night features the second race in the Northern Trail Series — Masochism on Moose Mountain — at 6:30 p.m. at the Moose Mountain Ski Area. It’s a four-mile trail run with a 1,400 ascent in the first 1.25 miles and a descent of 2.75 miles.
The first All Comers Track Meet of the season is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the West Valley High School track. The All Comers meets feature races from 100 to 5,000 meters. This is the 37th season for the events held each Thursday through June.
The first Kids Cross Country races of the season — distances of .75 and 1.5 miles — are scheduled for
6 p.m. Friday at the West Valley soccer field.
The AAAA Run on the Runway, a 5-kilometer event, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fort Wainwright Ladd Army Airfield.
Sunday, there’s the Run Lu Lu Run sponsored by Lu Lu’s Bread & Bagels on Old Chena Spur Road. Races start at 10 a.m. with runners choosing from a flat 5-kilometer course or a somewhat hilly 10K route.
