Thanksgiving Day dining: Churches, food bank and volunteers work to see everyone gets dinner

Organizations are making sure no one goes without a special meal on Thanksgiving Day.

Fairbanks Community Food Bank volunteers have assembled more than 2,000 Thanksgiving food boxes courtesy of community-wide donors that will be distributed today at the following locations until they run out.

• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — (2,000 boxes)

First Presbyterian Church

547 Seventh Ave.


• Noon- 2 p.m. — (200 boxes)

Lord of Life Lutheran Church

1005 St. Nicholas Drive

North Pole

Thanksgiving Day meals with all the special fixings will be available free at the following locations

• 1-4 p.m.

Fairbanks Rescue Mission

723 27th Ave.


• 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Soup Kitchen

Murphy Hall, lower level

Immaculate Conception Church

115 Cushman St.


American Legion and VFW posts are serving Thanksgiving dinner to members, veterans and their families and active duty personnel at the following locations.

• 2 p.m.

American Legion Post 57

1634 S. Cushman St.


• 2-5 p.m.

VFW Golden Heart Post 3629

324 2nd St.


• 3-6 p.m.

American Legion Post 11
