FAIRBANKS - Hailey Knapton, a sixth-grade student at Salcha Elementary School, is a budding performer, according to her teacher Jessica Schauffler.

“Once a month she performs her self-written songs in front of the school,” Schauffler said. “Hailey has a great imagination and genuine spirit that helps contribute to her writing abilities.”

Hailey said she enjoys writing songs and is part of the school choir. She also participates in soccer, football and kick ball.

Schauffler said Hailey is brave, outgoing, hard working and self-motivated.

“Hailey struggled at the beginning of the year to stay organized and get her work turned in,” Schauffler said. “She is very intelligent and has made a great change since first quarter. Hailey is responsible and chose to stay after school to get her homework completed.”

Hailey said she is interested in starting a family someday and becoming a wildlife biologist or a chef.
