Three Nanooks finished in the Top 10 in the combined standings in Alaska’s dual meet loss to the Air Force Falcons on Sunday at Air Force Academy, Colorado.

The Nanooks finished with a 4,644 total compared with the Falcons’ 4,679 in the Patriot Rifle Conference matchup.

Kellen McAferty led the Nanooks, finishing second overall with a 1,176 aggregate score. The sophomore also finished second overall with a 588 in smallbore and ninth with a 583 in air rifle.

Haley Castillo’s sixth place finish in the combined standings was next-best for Alaska. Castillo recorded a 579 in smallbore and a 583 in air rifle for a combined 1,162 score.

Alaska senior Amy Gentry tied Castillo’s combined score. Her 578 in smallbore and team-best 584 in air rifle placed her seventh in the combined standings.

The Falcons’ Peter Fiori finished first overall in the combined standings with a 1176. Fiori shot a meet-best 588 in smallbore and finished second in air rifle with another 588.

Alaska next competes in a dual meet against Ohio State on Jan. 11 in Columbus, Ohio.
