University of Alaska Fairbanks sophomore Oda Bygdnes is heading to the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships.

On Wednesday, the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Committee announced the qualifiers for the championships, and Bygdnes was the only Nanook to qualify.

The Harstad, Norway, native is the first Alaska swimmer to qualify for the NCAA Championships since the 2016-17 season, when senior Cassidy Heaton was UAF’s lone representative.

This year’s NCAA Championships will take place March 13-16 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. Bygdnes qualified for the 100-yard butterfly, which takes place March 14.
