The University of Alaska Fairbanks cross-country team will be on the road for 80% of its regular season.
The Nanooks have five regular-season meets scheduled in the fall and four are away from Interior Alaska, according to a UAF news release Thursday.
The Nanooks’ only home meet is its annual Blue and Gold 5K Race on Aug. 31 at the UAF Running and Ski Trails.
The Nanooks will race against intrastate and Great Northwest Athletic Conference rival Alaska Anchorage, with the women’s competition at 10:45 a.m. and the men’s 5-kilometer event at 11:15 a.m.
The Blue and Gold 5K includes a community race at 10 a.m. The race is open to the public and there also will be a 1K children’s race after the conclusion of the collegiate men’s 5K.
The Nanooks will be in Monmouth, Oregon, for the Ash Creek Invite on Sept. 6 and the Sundowner on Sept. 20. Both meets are hosted by GNAC rival Western Oregon and each takes place at the Ash Creek Preserve.
The Nanooks are back in Oregon on Oct. 5 for the Charles Bowles Invitational, which is hosted by Willamette University in Salem.
UAF ends the regular season in the Western Washington Classic, hosted by the GNAC rival on Oct. 12 in Bellingham, Washington.
The Nanooks participate in the GNAC Championships on Oct. 26 in Billings, Montana and the NCAA Division II West Regionals on Nov. 9 in Monmouth, Oregon.
