FAIRBANKS — Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks and the UAF Trails Club will host their Skiathon at 11 a.m. Sunday at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Ski Hut on West Ridge, near the Geophysical Institute.
The Skiathon will include a 20-kilometer, classic-only race, in addition to a tour. Participants will be timed, though they may travel as fast or as slow as they want.
There is also a wood ski division, and all finishers will receive a Skiathon patch.
Early registration is $15 and is open until Saturday. Competitors can also register the day of the event, though race-day registration costs $40.
Registration forms can be picked up and dropped off at Beaver Sports, 3480 College Road. Visit bit.ly/2IPWJmA to print out registration forms.
Bib pick-up and race-day registration will begin at 10 a.m. near the UAF Ski Hut. The race/tour starts at 11 a.m.

The event brings the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks and the UAF Trails Club together and serves as a fundraiser for the UAF trail system. The original Skiathon followed the Skarland 12 mile trail and was the marquee event of each spring from 1967-77.
