Both Monroe Catholic basketball teams swept the Hutchison Hawks in an Aurora Conference doubleheader Tuesday night in Boileau Hall at Monroe Catholic High School.

The Rams girls team, despite going scoreless in the fourth quarter, defeated the Hawks 55-14. 

Katie Bast scored 16 points and Shelby Edenmiller dropped in 11 for Monroe Catholic. Bri Majors led Hutchison with eight points.

Monroe led 55-12 after the third quarter. Hutchison outscored the Rams 2-0 in the final quarter.

In the boys game, Malachi Bradley scored 21 points and Tommy Bast provided 17 for the Rams in a 72-50 win. 

Quinn McHenry deposited 16 points and Jase McCullough contributed 10 points for Monroe.

Deion Frank scored 17 points to pace Hutchison. Preston Silas had 12 and Mason Young registered 11 for the Hawks.


Delta icers roll

Darren Hjelm scored five goals to propel the host Delta Junction High School hockey team to a 15-1 win over the Monroe Catholic Rams in Tuesday’s Aurora Conference game.

Tyler Hudgin scored three times and Justin Gerhart had two goals for the Huskies. 

Miles Fowler scored for Monroe in the first period.
