North Pole’s girls doubles of Amber Stewart and Grace Sikorski won 6-1, 6-0 over Ashley Bennett and Katy Kochte, helping the Patriots defeat the Hutchison Hawks 4-3 for the team victory in Thursday afternoon’s Mid Alaska Conference high school tennis dual meet at the Dan Ramras Community Tennis Courts.

North Pole swept the boys singles, starting with Luke Roehrig’s 6-2, 6-4 decision over Cooper Irinaga in the No. 1 match. Bryce Wyman claimed victory in the No. 2 contest by defeating Eli Kirsch 6-1, 6-2.

Paige Stapp added to the Patriots’ success with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Karilyn Blanchard in the girls No. 1 singles match.

The Hawks’ Ana Brosnan prevailed 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 over Nicole Knudson in the No. 2 girls singles contest.

Hutchison also won in mixed doubles, as Sofia Squires and Isaiah Moore collected a 6-1, 6-2 decision over  Daniella Conkey and Joel Denham.

Kirsch and Irinaga contributed a 6-0, 6-4 win over North Pole’s Noah Connolly and Austin Darby in the boys doubles match.


Monroe-West Valley 

Connor McDaniels grabbed a 6-2, 6-2 win over Monroe Catholic’s Miles Fowler in the boys No. 1 singles match, as the West Valley Wolfpack downed the Rams 5-2 Thursday night at the Dan Ramras Community Tennis Courts.

Klara Kondrake won for West Valley in the girls No. 1 singles match, defeating Erin Hendricks 6-2, 6-0.

Hendricks, though, later combined with Oliver Pender for a 6-5 (5-1), 6-2 victory over Morgan Ely and Aidan Payan in the mixed doubles duel.

West Valley’s boys doubles of Eli Ludwig and Fin Ludwig won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1,  over Trevor Christian and Bryan Coty in boys doubles action.

Wolfpack teammate June Wallis won 6-0, retired over Emma Bradshaw in the girls No. 2 singles match.

West Valley’s girls doubles of Jordan Dick and Samantha Stark won by default.

Monroe Catholic’s Oscar Oravec gained a 6-1, 6-3 win over David Stark in the boys No. 2 singles match.
