The Sonot Kkaazoot starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with a 50-kilometer classical technique race. A 50K freestyle start, and a 40K freestyle each start at 10 a.m.

A 20K freestyle begins at 10:30 a.m., and its course is only on the Chena River.

All of the races feature mass starts.

Nanooks hockey banquet

Sunday is the reservations deadline for the annual Alaska Nanooks Hockey Banquet, scheduled for April 4 at the Westmark Hotel.

To make reservations, contact Barb Milles at 479-3391 or 347-6458.

The banquet begins at 6 p.m. with a social, followed by the program at 6:30 p.m., and dinner at 7 p.m. Awards will be presented following the dinner.

The cost is $35 per adult and $18 each for youth ages 6-12.

Fans can support a Nanooks player by purchasing an additional ticket for $35.

NCAA regulations prohibit fans from purchasing a ticket for a specific player. A fan can sponsor a player’s dinner when the fan doesn’t specify the player.

The menu is herb roasted chicken and pasta Hollywood (penne pasta with artichoke, capers, carrots, onion, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, pepercines and Alfredo sauce).

There also will be a salad, a starch item, vegetables and dessert.
