FAIRBANKS — The second Nordic ski race in the 18th annual Buetow Dental Distance Series is scheduled for Saturday at the Birch Hill Recreation Area.

The 20-kilometer, mass-start classic race begins at

11 a.m. A 10K mass-start event is available for skiers who want to compete in a shorter distance.

Entry forms can be picked up and dropped off through 5 p.m. Thursday at Raven Cross Country, Beaver Sports, Trax Outdoor Center, Goldstream Sports and the Birch Hill Recreation Area Cross Country Ski Center.

The entry fees are $15 each for Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks members and $20 for nonmembers. Race-day entries will be accepted between 9:45 and 10:45 a.m., but will cost $5 more than the early entry fee.

Raven Cross Country will provide door prizes at each Buetow Dental Distance Series race, and a grand prize to be awarded at the conclusion of the series. Proceeds from Saturday’s race support the Lathrop High School Nordic ski team.

The third and final race in the series is a 30K mass-start freestyle event scheduled for Feb. 19.
