The Monroe Catholic High School volleyball team holds the No. 4 seed in Pool B after posting a 5-2 record during day one of the Lady Grizzly Tournament hosted by Grace Christian High School in Anchorage.
Friday followed a 10-team round robin format for both the A and B pools. A winner was determined after one 25-point set.
Monroe started the day with a win, after Kodiak forfeited before falling to Palmer 25-21. Palmer finished the day as the only undefeated record in Pool B. The Rams won their next two sets against Cordova, 25-16, and Seward, 25-19, before dropping a 25-21 set to Homer.
The team finished strong, beating host Grace Christian 25-16 and Houston 25-17.
Pool play will wrap up today, before tournament bracket play begins. The Rams conclude their round-robin with a set against Nikiski at 8 a.m. and a set against Sitka at 9:45.
After the conclusion of the round-robin, the top three seeds from Pool B will advance to the Platinum Bracket. The fourth through seventh seed from Pool B advance to the Gold Bracket and the remaining teams will play in the Silver Bracket.
Tournament bracket play follows a double elimination format and begins at 10:30 a.m.
Eielson’s home meet against Delta Junction, originally scheduled for Friday, was postponed, as weather prevented the Huskies from traveling. The match has not been rescheduled.
