Ashley Plys won twice Tuesday to help the Lathrop Malemutes to a 6-1 victory over the Hutchison Hawks in Tuesday afternoon’s Mid Alaska Conference high school tennis dual meet at the Dan Ramras Community Tennis Courts.
Plys defeated Katy Kochte 6-0, 6-0 in girls No. 2 singles. She joined Hannah Knott for a girls doubles over Ana Brosnan and Jennifer Langley by the same score.
Lathrop’s Luke Millam swept Cooper Irinaga 6-0, 6-0 in boys No. 1 singles and Malemutes teammate Gage Hale won the No. 2 with a 6-4, 6-5 (5-3) decision over Eli Kirsch.
Zach Plys and Darshan Nautiyal rallied 6-3, 5-6, 7-4 over Hutchison’s boys doubles of Krisch and Irinaga.
Lathrop’s Helen Wharton won 6-1, 6-0 over Karilyn Blanchard in girls No. 1 singles.
Hutchison’s mixed doubles of Isaiah Moore and Sophia Squires claimed a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Tifani Holcraft and Tanner Young.
The host North Pole Patriots came back for a 5-2 dual-meet victory after the Monroe Catholic Rams swept the boys singles matches.
North Pole’s boys doubles of Caleb Roehrig and Noah Connolly downed Bryan Coty and Trevor Christian 6-2, 6-3. The Patriots rallied in mixed doubles, as Aaron Zeisel and Daniella Conkey won 6-1, 5-5 (7-8), 7-5 over Miles Fowler and Emma Bradshaw.
The Patriots won by default in three categories — girls No. 1 singles (Grace Sikorski), girls No. 2 singles (Nicole Knudson) and girls doubles (Sarah Beaver and Naya Derendoff).
Monroe’s Oliver Pender took a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Wilson Wade in the boys No. 1 singles. Oscar Oravec pulled out a 6-3, 5-5 (5-2) win over Austin Darby in the No. 2 match.
