Pearle Green garnered the most valuable honor and the Galena Hawks girls basketball team captured the title Saturday in the Craig Jung Tournament at Kenai Central High School in Kenai.
Adam Kaganak was an all-tournament team selection for the Hawks girls, who finished 3-0 in the four-team round robin competition.
Galena opened the tournament and its season on Thursday with a 66-54 victory over the Nikiski Bulldogs. Green pumped in a game-high 34 points and Julia Heckman contributed 11 points for the Hawks.
The Bulldogs were led by Kaycee Bostic’s 18 points and Lillian Carstens’ 16 points
Galena, led by Green’s 22 points, rolled to a 52-15 win over the host Kenai Kardinals on Friday. Kaganak contributed 12 points for the Hawks and Logan Satathite led the Kardinals with five points.
Galena earned the tournament title Saturday with a 59-44 win over the Houston Hawks.
Green poured in a game-high 23 points for Galena, while Emily Bitler and Katie Richey paced Houston with 16 and 12 points, respectively.
The Galena boys team finished 2-1 in its portion of the tournament. No statistics were reported by press time for the Hawks boys.
