FAIRBANKS—The Fairbanks 49ers A team split a doubleheader with Kenai, while the Alaska Wild was shut out by Juneau in American Legion Baseball action on Thursday in Anchorage.

The 49ers lost 8-1 in seven innings and came back for a 14-4 win in five innings in the doubleheader at the Kosinski Fields.

In the second game, 49ers pitcher Jack Winkle scattered four hits and struck out eight while going the distance. Catcher London Emerson threw out three runners who attempted to steal bases.

Travis Moore hit 4 for 5 and Bela Armstong finished 3 for 4 for the 49ers.

The Wild lost 22-0 to Juneau in five innings at Bartlett High School.

Juneau pitcher Nathan Klein limited the Wild to two hits while striking out nine and walking one. 

Terrell Ford hit a double for the Wild in the top of the third inning and Trenton Woods connected for a single in the fourth.

The Wild used four pitchers in the loss.

Starter Colin King worked 2/3 inning, allowing a hit, four runs and four walks. Taylor Wiinikka went for 1/3 inning, allowing a hit, three runs and three walks, Ben Hall threw for 2 1/3 innings, allowing five runs, four hits and three walks.

Juneau’s Matt Cunningham hit 3 for 4 with four runs scored and two RBI. RJ Markovich was 2 for 2 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Todd Baseden batted 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Klein had the only extra-base hit for Juneau, a triple, and he finished 2 for 4 with  four runs and two RBIs.
