FAIRBANKS—More than half of the greens at the North Star Golf Club are open for play and more will be opening on a daily basis, according to a press release from the owners.

On the front nine, greens are ready for play on the first, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth holes. The back nine has real grens available on the 11th, 12th, 15th, 16th and 18th holes.

There’s still time for golfers to join league play, which begins next week.

There is a match play league on Monday, a men’s scramble league on Tuesday and a ladies scramble league on Wednesday.

Contact patd@alaska.net for the Monday and Wednesday leagues and lady_golf_pro@yahoo.com for the Tuesday night league.

League entry fees are $25. For more information call 457-4653.

Bernadine Stump, an LPGA professional from Lake Havasu, Ariz., will be working at the course this summer.

She will be teaching children’s camps with seven sessions starting June 12. For more information go to www.northstargolf.com. She will be offering free 10-minute lessons Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Call 457-4653 to reserve a lesson time.
