FAIRBANKS — A Fairbanks-bound trailer truck tipped over in a ditch Tuesday night in a crash likely attributable to snow on the Parks Highway, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The double Alaska Fast Freight trailer truck went off the road near 183 Mile south of Cantwell on Tuesday night, trooper spokeswoman Beth Ipsen said. Troopers concluded that driver Floyd Wright, 41, of Fairbanks was headed downhill on a curve when he lost control and went into a ditch, knocking the vehicle on its side.
About 100 gallons of diesel spilled and was later cleaned up, Ipsen said. It was not until Thursday that the last trailer was picked up from the roadside.
Wright sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt and alcohol is not believed to be factor in the crash, Ipsen said.
Conditions have been snowy and slushy on the Parks Highway this week and there have been about eight crashes that are likely weather related, Ipsen said.
