FAIRBANKS — Santa’s elves are putting the final touches on gifts and food boxes to be delivered Friday and Saturday to seniors and families in need on Santa’s Clearing House’s list.

The only unfinished holiday packing is finalizing teen gifts, one of Santa’s busy volunteer elves said. “We would appreciate $10 or $15 gift cards to tuck into teen gift bags,” she said.

Gift cards will be gratefully received today and Thursday at the clearinghouse to round out the generous community outpouring to see that all children are remembered this holiday season.

Volunteers for Friday deliveries of food boxes to 250 seniors around the community are taken care of.

However, Santa needs volunteer helpers Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., to load vehicles and make deliveries of toys and food boxes to approximately 400 families areawide.

Anyone who wishes to help deliver need only show up with a covered vehicle, so fresh food won’t freeze, at Santa’s Clearing House, located in the former railroad depot behind the News-Miner, beginning at 9 a.m. until done.

Contributions to help pay Santa’s grocery bill may be dropped off at the clearinghouse; mailed to Santa’s Clearing House, P.O. Box 70710, Fairbanks, AK 99707; or donated via a credit card during business hours at the News-Miner. For more information, call Santa’s Clearing House at 457-1934.
