To the editor:
I write on the occasion of the death of my aunt, Ruby Lenoir Church Riddle, to all in Fairbanks who befriended her in life and who have taken the time to offer their respects upon her passing. I and the members of her family wish to thank each and every one who loved her so dearly and genuinely that she became not only an Alaskan but one who was in every way committed to being a contributing citizen to her chosen hometown.
I saw her seldom over the years, moving around the country and the world as an Army brat and then as a soldier myself for 30 years. But I always looked forward to the cards and letters and clippings she would send along. I still cherish the gift she made me of an Alaska Statehood Commemorative Coin in 1959. I will miss those packets and the occasional phone call. And I will miss Aunt Ruby. But we will meet again in a place of peace and light and refreshing.
