Winter weather advisory in effect for Fairbanks area

Published Sunday, October 12, 2008

FAIRBANKS -- More snow is headed for the Fairbanks area, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a winter weather advisory for the area Sunday.

Snow is expected to continue to fall through this evening with accumulations of between 3 and 6 inches. The hills surrounding Fairbanks should see the greatest amount of snowfall, the advisory said.

The snow could cause travel difficulties and drivers are advised to use caution.

I would also like to remind everyone to give yourself an extra 20 minutes tomorrow on the drive in. Take your time and arrive alive.

Unless you ride the sled to work, then cut your normal transit time in half.

I hear it snowed once in Hollywood. A whole bunch of movie stars had to be treated for frostbite of the nose.
