Palin's family ties include links to Franklin Roosevelt, Princess Diana

Published Wednesday, October 8, 2008

WASHINGTON -- Barack Obama and Dick Cheney are not the only political odd couple who share a family tree. Sarah Palin is linked in her lineage to Franklin Roosevelt. She also has a connection with Princess Diana.

Roosevelt, the Depression-era Democratic president, is a distant cousin of Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, according to genealogists at Ancestry.com.

Roosevelt is Palin's ninth cousin once removed. Their common ancestor is Rev. John Lothrop, who came to Massachusetts in 1634.

Palin also has ties to the late British princess, the Web site's researchers found. The Alaska governor is a 10th cousin of the former royal.

Last year, Cheney's wife, Lynne, discovered the ancestral ties between the Republican vice president and Democratic presidential nominee while researching her book. She said the relationship was eighth cousin, though the Chicago Sun-Times has traced it as ninth cousins once removed.

Who cares? Notice there is not one article so far on last nights debate, but you can put this "news" in. Things must be getting tight financially at the newsminer if this is the news you can afford to buy.

Is this story positive enough for all of you who keep whining that the DNM only runs negative Palin articles?

This one does not mention her inadequacies at all.

The ancestral ties are so far removed that it is an even bigger "who cares" than if she was somehow the secret direct descendent of FDR and Princess Diana themselves.

Too bad Palin doesnt believe in evolution. Cause' if she did, she could look up her family tree and see half her relatives.

... sounds like your not proud of your local ARTIC RESIDENT running for VP. It is suprising that you are not proud to have someone speaking so highly of Alaska, her speeches mention what is needed up there (jobs and resources aka money invested in Alaska economy). Why?

    IUR---

Many Americans that believe in capitalism, including and especially the late Joe Vogler, consider FDR a villian.

I'm of mixed opinion. Like W, his domestic policies sucked. Like W, his foreign policy was correct.

So, the DNM pulled only half an insult this time.

Cheney's wife, Lynne,...or....Chicago Sun-Times is not the proof I would ask to see.

All presidential nominees & all vice presidential nominees be as they may claim.

But, I want the titles & author's name of the books & the ISBN or id number. To locate the book(s), the location(s) in the The Library of Congress &/or State Library. (sorry, I'm an history junkie)
If it's a history lesson & lineage lesson; where is the endnotes, etc..?

    The Library of Congress

Library of Congress Web site (at least 500 results)Search for Franklin Roosevelt
