In the doghouse

To the editor:

Current Republican and Democrat leadership reminds me of mushers with bad hygiene: those who enjoy running the dogs but refuse to clean up the growing piles of crap in their dog lots.

Dogmatic Republicans reigned over both the House and Senate for six unprincipled years. They allowed King George II and His Highness Cheney to rule above the law. Why? Republicans know how to make overpowering messes, handily, yet lack the professionalism to clean up the foul ones.

Law-abiding citizens’ verdict? Guilty. For their shameful doggedness to thwart justice. For not prosecuting obvious felonious crimes committed by fellow Republicans. We non-partisan peasants prefer to call them derelict politicians who avoided their sworn duties, intentionally.

First American patriots would have branded their foreheads with two T’s. For behaving like Traitorous Tories (supporters of a monarchy or aristocracy) then tarred and feathered the scalawags before banning them from civilization. Justifiable punishment should never have been outlawed, doggone it!

Democrats Palosi and Reid became the leaders of Congress in 2006. They promptly proclaimed there would be no impeachment hearings ... effectively negating the enforceable system of checks and balances. Political reprobates are ecstatic. A major democracy safeguard abandoned! Culpable incumbent leaders are shiftless, toothless watchdogs.

Both major political parties utilize multifarious, underhanded tactics to avoid being prosecuted for illegal activity cover-ups. So Republicans probably threatened to expose the cemetery of skeletons crammed into the lmelda Marcos-sized closets of Pelosi and Reid.

Democrats are the majority party. Bitter Republicans blame them for the low approval rating of Congress. These undisputed masters of B.S. spin how it is the Democrats’ fault nothing gets done.

Reality proves obstructionists Republicans are using filibusters excessively. Malicious blockage of legislation is their only agenda. To hell with addressing the continuing ill well-being of our nation. Meanwhile, fanatical neocon crazed dogs of war remain unleashed.

Grandpa Swanson loathes obsolete incumbents who get constantly reelected only because of taxpayer-paid pork bribes. “When these long in the tooth, anarchic power-addicted curs finally die — bury them in flea infested doghouses.”

Do unto others...? pot - kettle - pot - kettle...? In reality, Demikins and Republicrats - they are all the same and they are all looking out for their own best interests, not that of the nation. Very few of them rise above it and both parties are guilty of a variety of sins. Don't hang your hat on the dems being any better than the repubs or vice versa, 'cause they ain't.

it all comes down to money and power. as i have mentioned before i see no real differance in the two parties, each engages in extremism in order to cover the vast spectrum of potential votes. one side drags out those old, tired beat up topics such as abortion and the other side counters with the opposite viewpoint. though the topic is old and weathered it is always great fuel to stoke the embers when things start to cool down (not wanting to get into an abortion thing here, merely an example) there is no longer a Rep. or Dem. party but only left and right and these two camps are too busy slamming one another to address our nations needs. yes indeed, go check out Ms. Boxers wardrobe closet that is probably lined with the wood from some threatened species of rain-forest tree or maybe even Ms. Palin's suits that were made by little unprotected hands in some Haitian sweatshop, two chics from opposite ends of the spectrum but are they really? I dont want to vote this time but over the decades i have chastised those that stayed home, so, what to do?

Interesting statement: "First American patriots would have branded their foreheads with two T’s"

When I was younger, yes, we had freedom of speech, but it was considered treasonous to speak out against the President. It's called respect. Loyalty. We've lost it, along with much of our patrioriam. No wonder America has lost her greatness in the eyes of the world.

One reason I prefer that DC have as little power as possible is because regardless of whether Democrats or Republicans are in power, that power will be abused.

Not that state and local governments are perfect, by any means, but DC turns most good people bad, and makes bad people worse.

maybe the problem is not with the politicians, but with the people...greedy ignorant and out of touch politicians are simply a reflection of a greedy ignorant and out of touch populace who vote for them.

"You know who ever is control is gonna screw things up somehow."

Only if people let them. Politicians are like your neighbor's idiot nephew that you hire to mow your lawn or paint your house. You can get a passable bit of work out of him but only if you watch him like a hawk until he's done. Turn your back for a minute and he'll kill your lawn or break every window in your house, and you'll still have to pay him for his time.

McGehee- Only if you let them? Past that step I think. America already went for a beer while the garage got lit on fire. We all see it burning and no one can find a hose.

That is absolutely right. Since term limits are not going to be imposed then we as voters have the abilty to impose them.
