Fred Meyer parent company announces beef recall

ANCHORAGE -- The company that owns Fred Meyer supermarkets is recalling ground beef because of a possible E. coli contamination.
The recalled meat includes Private Selection Natural ground beef sold in 16-ounce packages in the self-service meat case, with "sell by" dates between July 11 and July 21.
The recall also includes ground beef products in Styrofoam tray packages wrapped in clear cellophane or purchased from a service counter with "sell by" dates between May 21 and July 5.
The Kroger Company is asking consumers to return the potentially tainted products to the store for a refund or replacement.
The Department of Agriculture informed Kroger that one of its suppliers, Nebraska Beef, was linked to E. coli illnesses in Michigan and Ohio in late May and early June.
Ground beef sold in sealed tubes in 1, 3 or 5-pound packages and frozen ground beef patties are not included in the recall.

I miss BY Farms.
BY farms was a joke. did you see where they put the game meat in the outside trailers? Bugs, birds and anything else were crawling all over the meat.
Over priced and not clean meat.
mmmm beef its whats for dinner with a side of e coli
Any meat I buy at the store goes in the freezer for a minimum of 2 weeks, for just this reason. Seems they're recalling everything nowadays...
Mike's Quality Meats out of Eagle River heads to Fairbanks at least once if not twice/month. Got hooked on their selection when we lived in Copper Center. Found a butcher here out of Riverton who's close, but not as good. Give them a call. (their pepper bacon rocks)
Delta Meats is the best in the Interior.
