Graffiti shame

To the editor:
This is about the people who put writing on the rock at the Parks Monument.
A few weeks ago, the Eagle Scout Troop spent all day cleaning the area and removing the graffiti that was already on the rock. They cleaned that area to make it look presentable and then a few ruined all their hard work.
I believe the ones who wrote all over the rock and plaque should go clean up their mess. They should take their parents and show them how much they taught them about respecting things that belong to others.
Other coach drivers and I stop by there daily. We are embarrassed to stop and show our guests the awesome view from this point.

they write all over many places ...just look at moose creek bluff what a shame and eye sore.
You'd be suprised at how much graffiti just 'one' person could do. I really don't understand why some dork would tag places in Fairbanks.
Mom's response to graffiti:
" Fools' names and fools' faces,
Always appear in public places."
Kept me from posting in my youth. And now I don't have the energy to waste with such efforts.
They're just small minds leaving their small mark on the world, sort of like dogs who pee all over the tires.
that is a beautifull spot-somebody needs to beat the vandals. the rock-the baseball bus. sad. make them work to pay for it.
Completely agree. I'm a big fan of good-looking tagging, but the tags here in Fairbanks are just morons spraying their names. There's no art to it at all, like you get in a big city, where competition drives better murals and fancier tags. And not to mention that you shouldn't be tagging up at the Parks monument in the first place -- murals should go on walls where there is no art, not at a place where there's already immense scenic beauty.
I remember the day when none of this malarky happened-thank you U.S. Military !!!
You're blaming the military? I saw a graffiti vandal in action along the bike path in U West just the other day. The filthy stuff this "artist" put on the wall isn't fit to describe. There was plenty of hateful racist remarks as well. Guess what? He was a boy about 14 years old on a BMX bike.
My favorite piece of grafiti I've seen said "Irak Sux".
I think if they find who did it just hand them a cleaning bucket with a toothbrush and let them clean it off. And if it is the military do it take a picture of it and send it to the base commanders. They should then get the whole squadron out there scrubbing.
millerpa,
I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU ARE BLAMING THE MILITARY!!! wE OWN BUSINESS IN TOWN AND ARE JUST WAITING TO CATCH THE LITTLE CULPRITS ON BYCYCLES WHO ARE DOING THIS. PARENTS DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR YOUNG KIDS ARE, IF YOU CAUGHT THEM DOING THIS TO YOUR HOUSE WHAT WOULD YOU DO tO THEM!!
I BELIEVE WE NEED A GOOD WORKING CURFEW FOR THESE KIDS THAT ARE OUT IN ABOUT ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT!!
I AGREE A TOOTHBRUSH JUST NOT TO THE GRAFFTI THEY PLACED BUT ALL PLACES THAT HAVE GRAFFTI IN TOWN. CURE A GOOD PROBLEM!!
Another reason why we need more in our community for our youth and better parent supervision.
I'm sure older folks spray graffi as well as young military solders. after all alot of the military are just over 18 and do their share of graffi.
I've seen this at the moose creek bluff. Most of the graffi on the bluff comes from Eielson dependents and airman with a few of local moose creek and north pole residents.
Schools got smart and put big rocks on their front lots to let kids spray on them.
some bars put up boards for people to write on in the restrooms instead of the stall walls. seems to be working for both.
something to think about.
peace
you cant just stop graffiti i dont like bad graffiti and stupid graffiti but graffiti is truley a art it just hast to devlope in the fairbanks area legalize bridges and over passes
