To the editor:
On Wednesday a new member arrives to join the ranks of service dogs raised in the Interior. Cruvin, an 8-week-old Labrador puppy from Canine Companions International, will become the newest service dog to start his 18-month training in the Interior.
He joins the ranks of so many other wonderful service dogs raised here. Dogs like Shiloh, KZ and Shep raised by Hannah Beck; Megan and Trooper raised by Col. Mittelstaedt at Bassett Army Community Hospital; Kitta, Mikey, Molly and Bubbles as well as all the other service dogs raised in the Interior.
For those of us who raise and train service dogs, we have to thank the citizens and the businesses in Fairbanks for your acceptance and continued support. Without it, our job would be much more difficult. There are very few businesses that do not welcome us. And to all that do, thank you.
So when you see us out and about with an adorable yellow Lab puppy wearing his “work” jacket, please stop and say hello. Please ask questions. And please ask for permission first to interact with the cute ball of fur wearing a jacket identifying him as a service dog in training. Every encounter contributes to his training, education and eventual success as a service dog.
Thank you for your support.

My Mother-in-law has two adorable Labradoodles raised as therapy dogs. They are family pets that also perform a much needed service to people who need companionship, understanding and unconditional love. These dogs give hope, compassion and smiles to those they come in contact with. I look forward to meeting Cruvin, his job is a most important one. To those kind souls that raise these dogs......Bless your hearts and wish that there were many more of you! :)
Aww. Welcome, Cruver!
