Suspected serial thieves arrested in Fairbanks
Published Thursday, May 1, 2008
Fairbanks police believe a couple arrested Monday may be connected to multiple thefts across the state.
Jason Bradley Brisson, 31, and Brenda Audry Rodgers, 41, were taken into custody Monday after a department store surveillance video showed the pair using the credit card of a woman who reported her purse and laptop stolen from a vehicle.
They have each been charged with two counts of second-degree theft and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. They both also wanted for three state warrants out of the Anchorage area.
Fairbanks police are contacting other law enforcement agencies to see if any of the property recovered from the couple’s vehicle is related to other cases, Lt. Dan Welborn said. So far, police have found 70 items reported stolen in the couple’s possession, including purses and cell phones.
Police believe the items are tied to more than a half-dozen vehicle break-ins reported over the past few months.
“If you have anything of value in your car, even if you’re running in the grocery store for a minute, slide it under the seat and lock your doors,” Welborn said. “Any opportunity you give a criminal, they’re going to take it.”
As the investigation continues, Welborn said it is likely that Brisson and Rodgers will face additional charges.
Anyone with additional information about the case, or who believes they may have been a victim, is encouraged to call Fairbanks police at 450-6500.

Wait, I thought the Hayes' had already been convicted. Oh, that is right, wrong thieves!
flemm isnt that the punishment doled out by certain religions?
Hey phlem! Maybe if you get pulled over for speeding you should loose you license forever, or would that be considered "Cruel & Unusual Punishment"?
bet they would never steal again!
Yeah, good idea Phlegm, let's make them a real burden on our society so they can be eligible for medicaid and disability payments. Be on the lookout for anyone with a limp, they obviously stole something.
Do us a favor, sell your computer.
I had it in my mind that the people doing this were a lot younger!
so what should they get for what they have done?
flemm gave an answer, others dog him but dont give a answer. lets here some...
think of as if you or a loved one was part of their actions.
They just seem a lot younger... I'm sure they are just poor misguided souls who need our compassion and understanding.
Desperate people do desperate things. My concern is that, with our economy, this is only going to get worse...it won't just be addicts who are committing crimes.
Is there a old criminals home? Young people commit crimes without complete understanding of the consequences. These people commit crimes because they are lazy or screwed up there lives so bad that no one would hire them. Give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime, teach a man to steal a fish and we all go hungry.
"They just seem a lot younger... I'm sure they are just poor misguided souls who need our compassion and understanding."
Tell you what...let's guide them to your house and you can give them all the compassion and understanding you want. (Until they rob you blind that is).
There should not be a whole lot of understanding when you view their court records at

Just type in their names and you'll see an incredible list of pending felony charges. Each case has multitudes of charges and these are just the ones that they have been caught at.
These people victimized many in Anchorage and now have done so in Fairbanks.
Aw! those poor souls, It's not their fault! Our whole country's foundation was built on stealing. They were just keeping the tradition, what they were bred and taught to do.
would should feel sorry for the accused not hatred. it is not their fault for what they have been accused of. They were under the influence of following the primaries and watching endless hours of CNN. I bet the two of them can get off if they just tell the judge that it is Obama's fault for their actions. That they had watched his purple lips continuously talk about "change" and had watched his big ears flop in the wind that they got so angry they loss control of their sences and had the overwhelming urge to just steal something to distract themselves from their Obama induced pain. I hope Hillary reads this blog and uses my statement. "there are actually people all the way up in Alaska stealing now because of Obama and his lies about change!"
